Enterprise Data Warehouse solution for D.H.S. Modernization Project
Challenge: To develop an enterprise wide business and reference data warehouse for the purpose of generating detail and summary reports. The challenge was to source over 7 terabytes of data from the Datacom Legacy environment and to create relational data marts using Oracle and DB2 databases. The client requirement for this task required that this data needs to be current with the legacy environment.
Solution: The B&A consultants work as members of the Business, Reference and Data Warehouse team to design the new relational Operational Data Store (ODS) and datamarts using the Erwin COTS product. The product used to perform the Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) functions was Informatica PowerCenter. Our consultants worked with the CBP legacy system experts to define the source and target mapping business rules to obtain the data from the mainframe, and load into the back-end systems that included: SAP R/3, SAP CRM, DB2 Data Warehouse, and EMC Documentum.
